CoffeeGeek - The Basics of Ethical Coffees CoffeeGeek - The Basics of Ethical Coffees

„All the participating growers receive the same price, but there is a large variance in the quality of the coffees. As a buyer this means you can't use the Fair Trade certification as an indication of quality. Also, the growers must join into co-ops to participate, leaving independent growers out.“

CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Machines and Grinders, First machine -- Isomac Giada or Gaggia Evolution (if price is equal)? CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Machines and Grinders, First machine -- Isomac Giada or Gaggia Evolution (if price is equal)?

„(I already saved up for a good grinder -- probably the Gaggia MDF as I'm tight on budget and can't afford the Rocky that is overpriced in Europe and costs usually over 300 euro.) I was aiming for the Gaggia Evolution that is reasonably prices here, but ran into an opportunity to buy a once-only used Isomac Giada for a slightly lower price than the Gaggia Evolution. The Isomac is probably mislabeled, as the label on it says it is a Cappuccina model, but judging by the look, it definitely is the Giada.“

CoffeeGeek - Starbucks Barista - Yegor Timofeyenko's Review CoffeeGeek - Starbucks Barista - Yegor Timofeyenko's Review

„So I say the machine is just not a good machine. I SERIOUSLY don't recommend Starbucks Barista to anybody who likes good expresso, or latte. It is hard to hear, but you can't just save on an expresso machine if you want results you are not going to regret. So I suggest a Rancilio SIlvia for $500, or Solis SL-70 for $350 w/ non-pressurized portafilter baskets from wholelattelove.com or aabreecoffee.com“

CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Questions and Answers, milk steamer or frother CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Questions and Answers, milk steamer or frother

„Then as far as a steamer goes; it's just a heated container with a tube so you can't go wrong there right? A stovetop steamer should do fine then (though take some skill)?“
