CoffeeGeek - Starbucks Barista Grinder - David Marsden's Review (#)
„I was looking for a good quality Conical Burr grinder and when shopping around in the UK the cheapest I could get was £60 ($114). This was a bit more than I wanted to spend and it was the Dualit EC69. I was then informed of the same machine by Starbucks just rebranded. I thought for £39 ($75) that can't be bad so I bought it.“

„Flat burrs should be replaced after a total of 600 pounds of coffee has been ground and conical burrs should be replaced after a total of 2000 pounds of coffee has been ground. Espresso quality burr grinders can range in price from $500-$5,000.“

„Grinder - A high quality burr grinder is essential for espresso. A conical burr grinder is preferred to flat burrs since the particle size is more even, they last longer, and the coffee is not heated during the grinding process. If the burrs become hot the aroma of the coffee will be diminished. A conical/parallel hybrid blade is considered the best design by many coffee professionals. “

„But after just one hour of production it became thin and whitish. The conical burr grinders helped, but did not eliminate the problem. I traced the problem to excess motor heat. The grinder motor was heating up the burrs and we were losing quality and value as coffee oils were degraded during grinding.“
