„I just pulled a few shots from my Francis, using a Kaldi Kaffe blend that is supposed to be more than a week old. The shot had loads of crema and in the cappa I made, had lots of chocolate and caramel flavours. The brightness and sharp flavours may have been lacking - but if it's as old as they say it is, then well, not bad.“

„This machine produces very rich espresso (usually) topped by a thick layer of crema. The Briel comes equipped with the now ubiquitous crema enhancing filter. As stated above, Briel does not offer a straight-forward filter as does solis but (here goes my warranty) the solis double filter (see Sweetmarias.com) fits and works fine so you too can be the judge, crema enhancer or not.“

„ the hot caramel macchiato is the same except you fill the cup leaving about 2" for foam then "s" in the espresso and add caramel. unfortunately i think that this drink is a disservice to coffee drinkers everywhere as it is not a true macchiato, but instead a vanilla latte topped with caramel sauce. when people come in my cafe and ask me for a caramel macchiato, i give them a true caramel macchiato and they are generally pissed. am i bitter?“

„ I team the machine with a Rancilio Rocky set on 11 for the successful crema using 14 grams of beans which brew 25-30 seconds upon which the flow begins to pale. The machine is most successful with custom ground beans, not preground espresso like Cafe Bustelo or Medaglio D'oro. I have tried Moak beans as well as a combination of organic 90% colombian and 10% french roast. I toyed with the machine for two months before buying a proper grinder.“
