CoffeeGeek - Regional: United States East, Good espresso drinks in NYC? (#)
„Hard to believe that a major city with so much great dining and everything else under the sun would have a dearth of good espresso joints but it seems to be the case. For obvious reasons I've written off Starbucks, Timothy's and World Coffee. Rumor has it that Cafe Gitane is good but reading it appears that it's quite the trendy scene and I hesitate to wade through that stuff at my age just for some good espresso. I've tried Cafe Reggio and La Lanterna (both on MacDougal Street) on repeat occasions and although each has its own appeal I was highly unimpressed with the espresso drinks.“

„Around 40 machines make espresso with the proprietary Nespresso capsules. These machines gain in ease of use, but cost much more to operate, day to day, than a traditional machine, or even a pod machine.“

„I've been drinking coffee since I was about 14 or so (24 now), but it was always a very casual experience with little appreciation for the brew (because there was little to appreciate, believe me!) My town didn't even get a Starbucks until a few years ago, so my first experience with espresso and espress-based drinks was at some of the local shops. I was around 16 when I first experienced espresso, but I wasn't intrigued; looking back with what I know now it was a really bad experience. I developed an affinity for a cappa or a latte, and that became my drink of choice for many years; it was something I took time out of my day, every day, to enjoy.“

„Rio is pretty much back together, The few parts I needed I purchased from espressoparts NW. They were very helpful with advice and stocked all the parts I needed.“
