„Post the JCCC jam info here and I'll try to make it. I'll definitely be at the barista jam at The Roasterie. I can't wait to meet some coffee geeks in person! I just got my ebay La San Marco up and running and it''s pulling incredible shots, but my wife can only take so much of my babbling about adjusting the pump pressure, descaling the valves and rich red-brown crema...“

„I had to get to the Barista championships, but I sat around for a bit, and learned that some of the things I heard about relationship coffee can be overcome. It's a real challenge for small roasteries to establish direct relationships at times because of the substantial risk involved. For example, you usually prepay a fair amount, sight unseen for the coffee, and then wait and hope it's going to be top notch. Discussion focused on how to overcome some of those risks, and I wish more of the micro-roaster owners I've spoken to in the past could have attended this - who knows - it could make a huge difference in giving farmers a living wage.“

„I show up and watch a couple of drinks prepped before I order. I've given up on lattes and usually order cappuccino's because you can't taste the coffee at most places. And more often than not, I still get a stinking latte with no coffee flavor. Lately I've started to get macchiato's which usually turns out to be the cappuccino that I really wanted in the first place.“

„... adds 10% hazelnut flavored coffee to their house blend both to mask the taste of some lower end arabica but also to give it a unique character that folks can't quite place but many really like? I'm not a fan of their house blend but here in the Northeast it's very popular and often a good alternative. I'd be most grateful if the HeadGeek could verify this whilst so close to the DD Bigwigs.“

„All the participating growers receive the same price, but there is a large variance in the quality of the coffees. As a buyer this means you can't use the Fair Trade certification as an indication of quality. Also, the growers must join into co-ops to participate, leaving independent growers out.“
