CoffeeGeek - Mazzer Mini - Long Term Comments

CoffeeGeek - Mazzer Mini - Long Term Comments ()

„With almost every other grinder I've tested (including the bulky commercial Rossi RR45 grinder), there always seems to be a case of "make do' with what I'm using. This was simply not the case with the Mazzer. One might think that since it is pretty much exclusively for espresso grinding, that would be a case of "make do" in terms of grinding for drip coffee or vac pot coffee but I don't look at it that way at all.“

„if you've done your research, you will quickly find out that a high quality coffee grinder is pretty much mandatory. Acceptable grinders for espresso would be the Solis Maestro, Rocky, Gaggia MDF, Mazzer, etc.  Colin will explore the grinder market in a future article.“

„Did up 227gram batches of Yirg, Jacmel (Haitian bean), Papua New Guinea, and that good old standby, Java. I did two blends: the Yirg and Papua went into the Mazzer Mini grinder; about half of the Jacmel went straight into the Maestro grinder (for drip, press and vacpots), and the rest of the Jacmel and the Java went into an Innova grinder, which is currently doing duty with a La Pavoni Professional machine I'm currently evaluating.“

„PS .You might want to put some ($~500) of what you are comfortable spending into a top grinder (Mazzer, Macap) before investing in a very expensive machine with your current grinder. Another good investment might be a session at a Barista school.“

CoffeeGeek - Innova Grinder - Comparisons with Other Grinders CoffeeGeek - Innova Grinder - Comparisons with Other Grinders

„What would a CoffeeGeek Detailed review be without a little side by side comparison with some of the subjects' competitors? We stacked the Innova grinders up against a Rossi RR45 (retail around $500), a Mazzer Mini (retail around $400 to $600), a Rancilio Rocky (retail around $220), and a Solis Maestro grinder (retail around $130). We will break the comparisons down into categories.“
