„The upper two-thirds of the Lovegrove kettle is wrapped in a surprisingly thick surround of insulating plastic, an insulator so effective that it is possible to rest a hand on the outside of the kettle while water is at a rolling boil inside without getting burned (not recommended, nevertheless). Because heat rises, the insulation keeps most of the energy imparted to the bottom of the kettle confined within the narrowing top of the kettle, and the water boils more rapidly for a given amount of heat input. The insulation serves a secondary purpose: even after the kettle has been removed from the energy source, the kettle functions as a quasi thermal carafe, retaining heat and keeping the water hot longer than an all-metal kettle would do. Of course, in this function the Lovegrove falls short of a specialized thermal carafe, but it is far ahead of conventional all-metal kettles.“

„Reneka further improves on this by insulating the boilers, and using electronic sensors and a computer system to control the temperature. The temperature of the boilers can be independently programmed on the fly using the keypad. You can easily adjust the brewing temperature to best suit the particular coffee, or blend you're using, without affecting the steaming ability.“

„As described in an earlier thread, I had already adjusted the pressure limiting valve based on an approximation of the volume of drained water when running against a blind filter. This method was complicated by the fact that my Oscar seems to have an uncommonly strong pump that has a water debit higher than the values published on all Ulka pumps. So I didn't have the pressure/volume curve for "my" pump and had to make a guess.“
