I've read everything and talked to many users about crema with the Europiccola, and the most knowledgeable tell me that the machine is not powerful enough to get the kind of crema you see with a commercial E61 machine. This by no means takes away from the great shots you can get. Steaming milk is a snap.“

  „I sampled these coffees in three stages: first as a single, straight shot (1.25-ounces including crema, 17-20 seconds after the first drop), next as a single shot mixed with one part hot (not frothed) milk, and finally as a single shot mixed with three parts hot milk. North American caffé lattes may add as much as six or eight parts milk to coffee, but at that extreme level of dilution I find it difficult to determine anything at all about the coffee itself. Readers who take their espresso in very large quantities of milk should find the coffees I identify as effective in "big milk" good candidates for home brewing regardless of the exact proportions of milk to coffee in their final drinks.“

  „With a HOT machine and a filter basket filled with FRESH grounds, I pull 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of THICK CREMA containing espresso in a time period of 25-30 seconds.  (YES,  I do use a scoop to measure 14 - 16 grams of coffee, I do use a graduated glass container for the espresso extraction when creating a cappuccino/ latte, and I do use the timer on my Timex wristwatch to time the extraction period.)“
