„In the meantime a specialist here in Vienna told me, that around the 50/60's water pressure was enhanced with pumps to a level of 7-8 bar(today most of the water comes from the mountains and has 3-4 bar pressure). In that time some manufacturers built espressomachines that worked with that pressure. That's the reason why this Grandebar has no pump, just a waterboiler. Today the pressure from the tap is not high enough, so the coffee is a mixture between a drip and an espresso.“

I was able to test the machine with La Perla from Mexico, several Nicaraguans, a very tasty Tanzanian Peaberry and even some Black Cat espresso blend, which will do in a pinch on a drip brew machine.“

„I think I'd like to modify that – good coffee is good in a completely different way when it's cold. Nothing is left of what used to make it a good coffee. Nothing remains of the other three stages of the cup, no body or acidity, floral scents or mouth feel. Nothing is nameable or identifiable, tangible or tasteable.“
