CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Machines and Grinders, I need a specialist: Grandebar from19xx? ...pictures: (#)
„In the meantime a specialist here in Vienna told me, that around the 50/60's water pressure was enhanced with pumps to a level of 7-8 bar(today most of the water comes from the mountains and has 3-4 bar pressure). In that time some manufacturers built espressomachines that worked with that pressure. That's the reason why this Grandebar has no pump, just a waterboiler. Today the pressure from the tap is not high enough, so the coffee is a mixture between a drip and an espresso.“

„This is an espresso machine that has been used in a coffeehouse. The father of a friend wants to give it to me, in exchange for any coffeemachine that's easy to use. (Think an automatic will be best for him)“

„Around 40 machines make espresso with the proprietary Nespresso capsules. These machines gain in ease of use, but cost much more to operate, day to day, than a traditional machine, or even a pod machine.“
