CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Machines and Grinders, Grinder for La Pavoni Europiccola? ()

„ I got mine with a coupon from WLL and ended up paying about $36.00 more than I would have paid for a Rocky (without coupon).  I appreciate the fact that $400.00 is a lot to spend on a grinder, but, without a good grinder your Europiccola is nothing more than an expensive paper weight.  Do yourself a favor and get the best grinder you can.“

„ But don’t forget that sometimes you can find extremely valuable items for very low prices.  I once purchased a Rossi commercial espresso grinder for $34.00 in a thrift store and later bought a Grindmaster coffee grinder such as you might see in a supermarket for $26.00 also in a thrift store.  Believe me, these great finds are few and far between, but it doesn’t take many to keep you on the prowl!“

CoffeeGeek - Starbucks Coffee Makers - All - Andrew Pena's Review CoffeeGeek - Starbucks Coffee Makers - All - Andrew Pena's Review

„This by far is the best coffee maker I have ever owned.  I averaged a weekly spend at Starbucks of $28.00 (the only place to get a decent cup of coffee).  When I happened upon this coffee maker, I asked the barista at SB, does it make the same cup as you make it?“

„I'm happy with my Capresso EspressoPro (~$250; I got it on sale for $200).  It makes good espresso using preground Lavazza or Illy with a minimal learning curve.  I'm not much of a milk fan so I haven't tried much along the cap/latte side, but I have verified it makes satisfactory mochas.“

CoffeeGeek - Rancilio Silvia - Chris's Review CoffeeGeek - Rancilio Silvia - Chris's Review

„ I was going to delay the purchase but I saw that the Daily Grind had dropped the price to $325 (The price had since just gone up to $345).  It may be odd to say, but I‘m glad that I worked my way up the expresso machine chain (Krups steam toy -$60; Krups pump toy -$100;  each busticated from use before being replaced).  I would have hated to have dropped the money on a Silvia and then find out that it didn‘t really matter to my quality of life -- spending money for the sake of spending money is a very expensive hobby.“

CoffeeGeek - Nespresso Espresso Machines - J R's Review CoffeeGeek - Nespresso Espresso Machines - J R's Review

„ It took me a while to get the hang of it when I first got it years ago but after long periods of lack of use, I have to re-learn how to get it right each time.  I never could work the frother very well and stopped using it in preference of a stove-top frother I bought in Amsterdam (an extra step and more cleaning). Although the Gaggia has indicator lights for temperature, making multiple cups of espresso for entertaining was "iffy", at best, and often just useless to try. But, when everything goes right, it is superb.“
