„I remember when I left home and started making my own coffee. I grew up with percolator coffee. Always a pot on the stove ready to be poured - or reheated and poured. "Eight'O'Clock" coffee bought at the local A&P from a large bin and ground right there.“

„I've made one pot of coffee in it, but am unsure at what point the coffee is finished. Unlike modern percolators, this does not automatically switch to a warming mode, it just keeps heating.“

„I've been drinking coffee since I was about 14 or so (24 now), but it was always a very casual experience with little appreciation for the brew (because there was little to appreciate, believe me!) My town didn't even get a Starbucks until a few years ago, so my first experience with espresso and espress-based drinks was at some of the local shops.  I was around 16 when I first experienced espresso, but I wasn't intrigued; looking back with what I know now it was a really bad experience.  I developed an affinity for a cappa or a latte, and that became my drink of choice for many years; it was something I took time out of my day, every day, to enjoy.“

CoffeeGeek - An Espresso Glossary CoffeeGeek - An Espresso Glossary

Moka Pot: an manual method of making a strong coffee. The moka pot is often referred to as an "espresso machine" but it is not one, using today's modern definition of what espresso is supposed to be. A moka pot is usually used on the stovetop (though self-contained, self-powered devices exist), and brews by forcing hot water through a bed of coffee using the power and pressure of steam. Most early "espresso" machines prior to the advent of pump or piston driven machines worked on the same principle of using steam to force water at slightly higher pressures than normal.“

„Because this cup of coffee is served immediately after brewing, it may be much hotter than brewed coffee that has been poured into a thermal pot, or placed on a warming burner. Be sure to ask for a double paper cup to prevent your hands for being burned by the hot coffee prepared using this method.“
