„Posted January 10, 2004 link After toying with the triple basket for a few months, I've shelved it for awhile. Not because of jitters but because I like the old Rancilio PF and how it knocks out the puck oh-so-easy. I do see a difference with the triple (19+ grams versus my usual 16-17) but it isn't earth-shattering. I wonder if you'll see the same thing when you upgrade to your Lyra (still on the way, right?).“

„The advantage of a dosered grinder is that one can grind out as much as one thinks will be needed to fill the PF basket and dispense it relatively quickly. Not that there isn't a workaround with the Anfim doserless if one is willing to catch the grind in a bowl and then transfer it into the PF basket. I would think that those with a doserless grinder would want to grind directly into the PF basket. Aside from not being able to do anything while the grinding is going on because one has to hold the PF basket to catch the grind, it can and will be much, much more messy than using the dosered version.“

„I know $500 is a lot to spend on an espresso machine, but we need to put this in perspective. What it lacks, like all home machines under $1300 or so, is separate steam boiler tank. You basically need to spend another $900 to take the next step up from the Silvia in home espresso machines, to light-commercial machines like the Pasquini Livia, Isomac, Wega, Exobar, La Marzocco, etc.“

This has advantages and disadvantages. The beauty of the Dosered Rocky is that you can grind a wack of coffee and tap it out at leisure and not have to stop while brewing espresso to grind more joe.“
