CoffeeGeek - Capresso Pro Espresso Machine - Jonathan Friedes's Review (#)
„ You may not be able to make great espresso without a grinder, but with an outlay of about $250 for this machine you can make espresso that's better than most of what I've had in the US or Italy. When you consider that a commonly recommended "starter outfit" is the Gaggia Carezza espresso machine at about $250 coupled with the $110 Solis Maestro or the $150 Solis Maestro Plus grinder, the EspressoPro is worth a good look. This is particularly true if you live near a source of freshly ground coffee (I've gotten much better results with Peets or Starbucks ground to a "5" on the Ditting grinders in the store than with tinned Illy or LaVazza preground). And in 2004, who doesn't live within spitting distance of a Starbucks?“

„I paid about $60 US for this grinder. I have 3 other burr grinders in the $30 to $80 price range, and the Zassenhaus produces far higher quality grounds and much finer grounds than any of the other comparably priced grinders I have used. I am finally able to make consistently good shots on my Gaggia Espresso machine. Prior to acquiring the Zassenhaus, I was unable to do any better than a 10 to 15 second pour on the Gaggia.“

„Espresso is more than simply a way to make coffee -- it is an entire coffee cuisine. And as espresso technology has been adopted by cultures outside Italy, that one cuisine has become many cuisines. The components that go into these cuisines are simple, however: coffee, always brewed by the espresso method; milk (or milk substitutes); and finally various flavorings added to the drink, at one time only chocolate, but in the United States an increasing (and often bewildering) variety of syrups and garnishes.“

„For brew coffee a blade grinder will get you pretty far. The Cuisinart is fast and light. Like most blade grinders it needs a little shake to get the large chunks down to the blade. For the measurement challenged it has some marks on the lid so you can pour in the same amount of beans every time.“

„The heart of the grinder consists of either two little corrugated metal disks, or a corrugated metal cone that fits inside a second, hollow corrugated cone. One element is stationary and the other is rotated by a handle or motor. The coffee is fed, a bean or two at a time, between the corrugated disks, where it is crushed until it drops out of the bottom of the grinder.“
