CoffeeGeek - Capresso Espresso Machines - Other - Simon Kleeger's Review ()

„Easy to use, quick warm-up time, can be kept on stand-by, cleans up readily.  Makes good-tasting crema espresso, sits on kitchen counter where it is not in the way but readily accessible.  My previous model (111) required repair to pump every other year and finally required  replacement.  The pressure relief feature should give it a longer life-span between repairs.“

CoffeeGeek - Notes from the Road - a Coffee Trip CoffeeGeek - Notes from the Road - a Coffee Trip

„The Barista comes with one of those spring loaded nightmare portafilters, guaranteed to spit out something that looks just like crema, no matter how crappy your beans are, how badly they’re ground etc. The first indication that this stuff isn’t crema is the fact that it disappears faster than the head on a warm Diet Coke. The second indication is, of course, the oh so bitter flavor of the beverage. This is in spite of ultra fresh beans (three days old) and a good vigorous tamp.“

„My initial reaction after flicking through both was that they were thin on content and fairly heavy on advertising. Having said that I will buy any issues I find in the future and am thinking about ordering the back issues of Crema. I think I'm just happy to find anything coffee related, and perhaps in 12 months if both magazines stagnate, I'll give them a miss.“

„ I polished the metal band that attaches the handle and it now look's brand new!  Makes a damn good cup of coffee too.  I can make 40 ounces of coffee too!  Works like a charm.“

CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Phil Tellier's Review CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Phil Tellier's Review

„ I was amazed at the quality of the crema, and the intensity and concentration of the taste.  I tied using his 100% Arabica coffee (same brand -- everything) in my Briel and like became boring...  Since then, I've tried espresso from different recommended restaurants and have concluded that the Saeco Classico was as close as you can get from commercial quality espresso in the confort of your own home.  I've organized an espresso tasting seminar by gathering friends who own espresso machines and have performed a head to head test amongst 5 different machines, using the same brewing conditions (I don't have the details on hand, but the Saeco and the Briel were two of them).“

CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Espresso Blends, Intelligentsia CoffeeGeek - Espresso: Espresso Blends, Intelligentsia

„I just had one of the tastiest doubles as far as I can remember, earlier this afternoon at Intelligentsia’s downtown store.  It was so fluffy, and crema all the way before I took my last sip.  And “NO”, it was not pulled from a bottomless PF.“
