CoffeeGeek - Braun Aqua Express Kettle - Lincoln Home's Review

CoffeeGeek - Braun Aqua Express Kettle - Lincoln Home's Review ()

„When Braun released this kettle a few years ago, it was probably the first company to come out with the newest generation of hot pots, or kettles that boil water quickly and easily. It seems much faster than a gas or electric stove, shuts off automatically (but does not have a keep-hot feature), and the carafe part needs no plugging in. You lift it off a round "peg" that's part of the base, and put it back on the "peg" base heating element with an easy motion.“

CoffeeGeek - Bodum Santos - Dung Truong's Review CoffeeGeek - Bodum Santos - Dung Truong's Review

„In the past, as I experimented with various vac pots, I found that as the bubbles went up from the filter rod or disc after all the water made it to the top bowl, only certain shapes of the upper bowl design would produce a constant stirring of the coffee ground without "dead" spots:  Those with a more conical or V shape will perform better than those with large and flared out U bottom.  I thought the V shape design would produce better coffee because coffee ground was benefited from the more vigorous "self-stirring" effect from the rising hot bubbles.  This was especially important when I makes only 2 or 3 cups of coffee using my 5-8 cup vac pots:  There was just not enough water in the upper bowl to keep all the coffee ground in motion, especially when the coffee ground was spread out too wide due to the larger size of the upper bowl, especially those with the flair-out bottom.“

Review of Uncommon Grounds by Mark Pendergrast Review of Uncommon Grounds by Mark Pendergrast

„Today we Americans drink less coffee than we did in the 30's, but we are drinking and brewing it better. We no longer boil grounds campfire style or percolate them genteel style in the pot. And we have a taster's dream choice of beans, roasts, grinds and brewing equipment. Even our lingo has changed -- from ''Gimme a cuppa joe'' to ''Give me an iced short schizo skinny hazelnut cappuccino with wings.'' (Translation: a small iced hazelnut coffee with one shot of regular and one of decaf, plus skim milk with foam, to go.)“
