„The Bodum Santos Electronic was the first successful electronic, timer controlled vacuum brewer on the market. Starbucks sold it for a time as the Starbucks Utopia.“

„Recently, we've been treated to a new material for vac pots. Up until 2000, almost all vac pots were either glass, or metal, or a combination of the two. Now with the Bodum eSantos / Starbucks Utopia, we have polycarbonate. Again, if used with care and some fiddling, it can brew a great cup of coffee - rich, full of flavour oils and aromas, and it also has the added bonus of being able to brew 1.5 litres of coffee - the most of any vac pot I've ever tried.“

„Strangely however, they're not selling them online. My advice: complain to Starbucks and see if you can get a replacement for free. You probably will.“

„We have examined the most popular method in North America, the electric gravity brewer using paper filters. Consider if you would, the mystery of the French Press, Melior or Bodum!“

„Lastly, all this is just our opinion aswe try to enjoy these new entrants into the vacuum brewer market. We would have liked to carry the Electric Santos (the Utopia is a Starbuck's exclusive)and it probably would be a great seller for us! But my personal opinion is that I don't feel this unit produces good coffee, and also that electric, automated vacuum brewing is a bit of an oxymoron ...and automation does not improve the vacuum brewing method.“

„First of all Bunn brewers do not have a timer or clock if you want those features Bunn brewers are not for you. Bunn brewers will not brew less then 22 oz of coffee they say; I say 30 oz for a consistent cup. Bunn uses a 72 oz reserve tank that keeps the water at brewing temp; Brewer heating elements draw 800 watts during warm up and 35 watts continuously, it's always on unless you use what they call a "vacation switch," which is an on/off switch. They are not energy efficient if you leave them on, however it's great if you brew several pots during the day or need hot water for tea et; perfect for a office environment.“
