„...  adds 10% hazelnut flavored coffee to their house blend both to mask the taste of some lower end arabica but also to give it a unique character that folks can't quite place but many really like?  I'm not a fan of their house blend but here in the Northeast it's very popular and often a good alternative. I'd be most grateful if the HeadGeek could verify this whilst so close to the DD Bigwigs.“

„If the decaffeinated arabica is commercially productive, naturally decaffeinated coffee could be on the market in five or six years. If it isn't, coffee from a cross with other arabicas could take up to 15 years.“

„He stressed that his coffees were "estate" coffees and all arabica.  When I asked for small quantities of  decaf espresso beans to try, he explained that while he had a few coffees that he sent to be Swiss water treated, there was so little caffeine if most of his coffees that I didn't need to use a decaf.   Specifically, that robusta coffees are  94% caffeine free (CF) and arabicas are 98.5% CF because they are grown at elevation in rainy areas and the rain washes the caffeine out. (huh??).“

CoffeeGeek - Artistry in a Cup, Part One CoffeeGeek - Artistry in a Cup, Part One

„How is this possible? The brewing time is a big factor, but the beans are an even bigger one: high grade arabica beans, the kind of beans I use 90% of the time, have less caffeine than the beans typically used in Folgers, or Maxwell House, or most grocery store coffee - be it whole bean, ground, or instant. That bean is called robusta. Robusta has a lot more caffeine content than Arabica beans, but again, I'll go into much more detail on this in another article.“
