„Isn't it true that Peet's invented the signature taste that made the owners of Starbucks so rich? I was reluctant to post any mention of Peet's because I anticipate a barage of criticism of the way they over-roast their coffee. So with that I admit that I have drunk little else but Peet's Antigua Guatemala, drip brewed for God's sake, for over a dozen years--even taking 10 pounds at a time with me when I was living in an actual coffee producing country. After buying a burr grinder and spending countless hours tweeking the brew temp, nothing has convinced me of the error of my ways.“

„Here's the thing I have to say: I think your job at Peet's made you get a bad idea of roast levels. I know Peet's promotes the dark roast ("Essential oils of the beans surface and exhibit a shiny gleam."). However, dark roasts are hard to pull of, as they're usually thin and ashy. I personally usually hate dark roast espressos.“

„How great is it to define your market? I'm sure there are scores of people who, if served a coffee that didn't have the "burnt" taste, would reject it simply because it is not the familiar ol' Starbucks? And as for the consistency factor I fear that the only way to acheive a level of consistency is to set the bar very low (as they have). That's the reason they use that super dark burnt roast, in my opinion.“
