„Love it there - thinking of defecting! Never got to the suggested coffee houses, but did get a few good cups here & there, alas no green beans for my roaster. (boo hoo, next time I guess). I roast a Robusta I buy direct from the owner of a co-op in Vietnam in my Alpenrost - it makes a fabu cup o' brew, and at about $1.30 lb (includes shipping).“

„Most coffee roasters have their own special blend of beans. This is usually a mix of arabica beans but may also include some robusta beans to give unusual flavor nuances to their espressos. The bean designated for an espresso is roasted just slightly longer than regular coffee beans so that the rich oils in the coffee are brought to the surface the bean.“

„Experienced roaster/operators can use the Alpenrost to test smaller samples of green beans by doing a "manual roast." This technique will allow the roaster to roast in smaller quantities (IE: 125gr. /4oz.) rather than the “recommended 225gr. /8oz.“

„With expensive Arabica no problem. I have Segafredo Intermetzzo regular Beans and they drive me crazy. Could it be a Robusta problem, or a darkness of the roast?“
