Links With Your Coffee - Monday
[onegoodmove] So what, then, is the basis for the almost-unanimously held Beltway conventional view that Democrats generally, and Barack Obama particularly, will be politically endangered unless they adopt the Bush/Cheney approach to Terrorism and National Security, which -- for some reason -- is called "moving to the Center"? There doesn't appear to be any basis for that view.

Starbucks to Quit Music Distribution, Keep Serving Coffee
[Cult of Mac - News and opinion about the Mac and ipod communities] That’s somewhat unfortunate - Starbucks always had some really good CD collections and compilations to peruse while waiting for your coffee to be prepared. I even admit to buying some of their old Motown and classic soul/r&b compilations, not to mention some of their excellent selection of jazz (folks like Monk and Coltrane lived on Starbucks shelves).

Time magazine writer: Pike Place Roast is "coffee for people who ...
[Starbucks Gossip] And, there is a way you can tell whether the coffee is getting low, and that's just by looking at the clear glass window on the urn..When the liquid in the window gets low, you move and rebrew another as a backup, or you stage it to where you can start brewing as soon as it runs out(If you are low on urns for whatever reason)..As a partner, I have started to ignore the critics, because most of them are just frustrated that Starbucks won't ever be dead, and that as soon as the recession is over, Starbucks will be positioned for success, becuase we are getting all the kinks out now. No matter what we do as a company, people will whine, because we're a big corporation, and as we all know, big corporations are bad, according the commies in the media, and the "commies" that tend to be the main people critical of the company..When the new changes start to result in more sales, and a higher stock price, you won't see Wall Street saying anything about how the coffee tastes..

French Coffee Press for the Best Tasting Coffee
[Food Life] Barrel. It was a great press and made delicious coffee. However, it had a flaw in design…glass. Yep, glass, which I broke twice. The first time, we ordered a new glass piece for about $20. Then, about a month later it broke again. That was it, I can’t be replacing the glass for $20 every month. So, I went on a search for a better press.

Think Decaf Coffee is Better? Think Again!
[Coffee Addiction] A recent study sponsored by the U.S. National Institutes of Health suggests that drinking decaffeinated coffee could lead to a rise in harmful cholesterol levels, which increases your risk of heart disease. The results of the study showed that the group drinking decaf coffee experienced an 18 percent rise in the fatty acids in their blood, which drives the production of LDL (bad) cholesterol. Some of the digestive and gastrointestinal problems associated with regular coffee do not disappear when one switches to decaffeinated coffee.

That Cuban Place (TCP) Cafe
[Photoblog and Muses] Ok, I must confess after the two (2) Cafe Cubanos (for me), 1 cafe leche (for my wife), and desserts we were at $20 but still a great price for the experience and food. You would spend $13 at McDonalds and this is WAY better.

Don't Drink The Water Up There
[Gridskipper, the Urban Travel Guide] The two main reservoirs serving Vancouver, the Capilano and the Seymour watersheds, are brown and muddy as is the tap water derived from said reservoirs. Now when I see a Fair Trade certified symbol (pictured here), I see two images from Black Gold in my mind: one of a long table of Ethiopian women sorting through thousands of coffee beans by hand for 50 cents a day, and another of a child being weighed at a therapeutic feeding station to determine if he is undernourished enough to receive food.
