„Shade coffee generally works within the natural ecosystem in which the coffee grows, helping the system and receiving help from the system. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of shade grown coffee is the preservation of the trees (in some sun and estate farming the trees are cut down to increase yield) and the biodiversity that lives within the trees, including: migratory and tropical birds, reptiles, ants, butterflies and a host of other organisms and plant life. This biodiversity has positive impacts on the overall environment, beyond the local canopies where the coffee is grown.“
