„Improvement of GOR symptoms in 17 GORD patients by decaffeinated coffee was confirmed by a second study (10). A study of 20 subjects with coffee sensitivity looked at the effects of three different coffees on GOR and found that a European coffee provoked more GOR than a USA coffee (11). A more recent study compared the effects of coffee and water on GOR by ambulatory oesophageal pH-monitoring in 7 GORD patients and 8 healthy controls but no effects were found (12). The authors concluded that “The results of this study, therefore, do not support a general advice to patients with reflux symptoms to refrain from drinking coffee or to favour decaffeinated coffee”.“

„Brazil - A naturally decaffeinated coffee plant has been discovered. Coffee from the new strains could taste better than existing decaf brews, which can lose flavor compounds when caffeine is extracted with solvents, reports NewScientist.com. The discovery has caused controversy between Brazil, where the strains were discovered, and Ethiopia, where the trees were originally from.“

„Fabian summarized his view, “The basic message is that all of decaffeinated coffee is absolutely a great coffee and even might be better than the regular coffee. For example, if you have particular defects, you can extract them from the coffee and there’s no doubt on the absolute safeness on all types of decaffeinated coffee no matter how they are done. I think that consumers are getting more and more conscious (of their caffeine intake), and they are drinking decaf more and more heavily. They are both drinking decaf for health reasons and also just to drink more coffee.” Dr.“

„The decaffeinated beans used in the United States generally originate from decaffeinating plants in Canada. They use several methods to decaffeinate coffee beans, but there are two preferred methods: removal of caffeine by either solvents or water. For those health-conscious consumers that shudder at the thought of chemicals being added to their coffee beans, there has been little evidence that the chemical used is harmful. This fact may not convince many of you to choose the chemically processed beans, but have you considered the flavor quality?“
