„However, within hours of purchase I decided to recalibratethe grind range to allow finer grinds (see instructions below). Thenext day I took the grind range down another stop, and now I am happy. (Others have reportedthat their grinders came calibrated just fine.)I have yet to experience a stuck lever on my Pavoni Europiccola, nomatter how finely I grind or hard I tamp; the wall between "too fine"and "wet clay" comes more gradually with these grounds. I get great coffeewith a remarkably light pull on the Pavonilever, and even better if I grind finely enough to get the firm pullI'm used to.“

Electric Coffee Electric Coffee

„and if you have to grind for a longer time, the motor will start to heat up the coffee grinds -not a good thing. But the C-Mill electric coffee grinder has a very strong and precise motor. It beats the pants off the Krups or Braun mills out there, The coffee beans don't get crushed, but rapidly cut. important so the coffee isn't heated in the grinding process (which can damage the coffee flavor).“

Espresso Grinding and Dosing Espresso Grinding and Dosing

„To extract espresso properly it is essential to use a burr grinder and to grind per order.  The two major types of burrs used are flat and conical.  Conical burrs are desirable because they increase the surface area of each particle and the amount of flavor that can be extracted from the coffee.  Since conical burrs have longer cutting edges, the burrs can rotate at lower speeds which reduces the heat created.  Flat burrs should be replaced after 600 pounds of coffee have been ground and conical burrs should be replaced after 2000 pounds of coffee have been ground.“

Coffee Coffee

„If your beans are too oily and your grind is too fine, your espresso maker can't produce an even flow of liquid -- it will trickle out with no crema. [Crema is the beautiful, brown cream found on the top of a perfect espresso.] If your grind is too coarse, the espresso pours out of your machine like Niagara Falls...too fast for good flavor and definitely no crema.“

„Each brewing method required a different grind size:  Drip coffee requires a medium size grind, espresso requires a fine size grind, a French press requires the largest grind size, while the vacuum pot also requires the largest grind size.  For cupping it is preferred to use a French press size.“

„With a slight twisting motion, firmly press the tamper to pack and level the coffee grind in the filter handle. Wipe the rim of the filter handle from coffee grinds to maintain a proper seal during extraction. Lock the filter handle into the group head.“
