Coffee: Lifeblood of Navy

Coffee: Lifeblood of Navy ()

„Probably the most complicated joe pot ever used in the Navy was one rigged in the engineroom of a wartime transport. Designed and built through the combined efforts of several engineering, construction and coffee brewing "experts," it was a Rube Goldbergish-looking affair with a half a dozen pressure valves, vacuum lines, drain lines, safety valves and water and coffee level indicators. The "pot" would boil on either "hot" or exhaust steam through an arrangement that put a vacuum drag on it when desired. Procuring a cup of joe was more complicated that operating the main engines, and no one under a first class petty officer was allowed to touch it.“

„I've seen all manner of camping coffee devices for sale. I've finished my whole pot of coffee while friends were still waiting for their percolator to perk an ever so slightly tastier cup of joe. My method is somewhat simple, requires zero overhead, and has worked wonderfully for me for five years. I've received many compliments on my coffee, normally wow, this is a surprisingly good cup of coffee, usually from the frou-frou coffee making device set.“

„This Bunn's home coffee brewer, and is similar to the model Tim Hortons sells. It boils all the water at the same time, and can brew a pot in about 4 minutes.“

Gourmet HandyPotI think it is important to get your coffee out of the glass coffee carafe sitting on the burner, and into a carafe right away. The Handy Pot is great for around the house use. You can also brew coffee directly into it using a thermos filtercone.“

„   If you are selling tea in two-cup pots, your cost of product invested in that sale is only six to 12 cents. I recommend selling a two-cup pot of tea for at least two dollars (in our retail stores, two-cup pots of basic tea sell for $2.50, and more expensive teas sell for $4.50 per two-cup pot). That generates a profit of at least $1.88 per pot, a gross profit of 94 percent on your two-cup pot of premium tea. Compare that to the 50 percent gross product bakeries typically generate, and the 60 to 80 percent specialty coffee brings in.“

Espresso! My Espresso! An Ongoing Internet Novel - CHAPTER Espresso! My Espresso! An Ongoing Internet Novel - CHAPTER

„      Press pots are an excellent and affordable way to enjoy a rich cup of coffee on the road or at work where an espresso machine is unavailable or where a vacuum pot would be a hassle. In times of 'desperation' you could even pre-grind the coffee, place it in the glass chamber and take the assembly to work or wherever. When there, just pour in the correct amount of heated water and your coffee will be ready shortly thereafter. You could even pour out the remaining water and clean up at home if there isn't a handy facility for that.“
