Coffee Drinking Reduces Diabetes Risk, New Study Reveals - National Coffee Association (#)
„This study expands on a Dutch study done last year that found that heavy coffee drinkers had a substantially reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. However, that study did not separate out caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee, included fewer people over a shorter span of time, and was less rigorous in measuring coffee intake.“

„ Even among those specialty coffee drinkers who drank only decaf, concerns about quality were foremost when selecting a decaffeinated coffee. Another assumption often made about the decaf sector is that demand is stagnant. „Each of these markets can be further sub-divided into additional product formulations e.g. caffeinated/decaffeinated, flavored/unflavored, Arabica/Robusta, etc. Out of the total sales of coffee both retail as well as industrial, 43% by value was from R&G coffee while 27% from the specialty segment in 1997 (Chart.2). Recent estimates show that specialty coffee sales represent US$ 6 - 7.6 billion of the estimated $18.5 billion US coffee market.“
