„Grown on the Fazenda Vista Alegre Estate, this coffee is dry processed in the traditional ways of the best Brazilian estates. A process similar to that found in Yemen and Ethiopia, the red-ripe cherries are picked and dried with the fruit and pulp still attached to the coffee bean. The Cerrado region is well known for its coffee and it is considered to be the best that Brazil has to offer.†“

„Let us move back a few steps in time to the lands known as Ethiopia and Yemen, about 600 AD where locals boiled the complete fruit of the little understood coffee arabica plant. Not far from there was the now dry port of Il Mucha. Hence the name Mocha.“

„Origin: Blended -- Various Origin Detail: Three origins, including Indonesia (Sumatra Mandheling), Yemen (Raimi), and Ethiopia (Sidamo). Notes: An interesting and provocative variation on the world's oldest blend, Mocha-Java. Here the "Java" component is a traditionally processed Sumatra and the "Mocha" a combination of authentic Yemen Mocha and a dry-processed Ethiopia. Sweet Maria's main business is operating a popular website catering to home roasters, but owner Tom Owen roasts for local customers three days a week.“

„Coffee berries were transported from Ethiopia to the Arabian peninsula, and were first cultivated in what today is the country of Yemen. From there, coffee traveled to Turkey where coffee beans were roasted for the first time over open fires. The roasted beans were crushed, and then boiled in water, creating a crude version of the beverage we enjoy today. Coffee first arrived on the European continent by means of Venetian trade merchants.“

„Fortunately, I had enough insight to roast up a "cupping-blend" of equal parts of Colombian, Brazilian (which I could've/should've left out), Mandheling, and Yemen Mocha, each roasted separately to medium dark (just a bit of oil) and then ground about as coarse as Rocky goes. This, along with my Bodum press pot, was packed with the rest of the vacation goods.“

„But today there's too much coffee in the world, and prices are at 30-year lows. While premium Ethiopian coffees fetch up to $12 a pound in the United States, Ethiopia's farmers get only 15 cents for it.“
