Amazon.com: Books: Barolo to Valpolicella: The Wines of Northern Italy (#)

„Wine is, and has been since time immemorial, the lifeblood of Italy-and in the late twentieth century, it has also become hugely popular around the world. Such is their variety today that Italian wines, ranging from a classic Piemonte red like Barbaresco to the Veneto's elegant white Soave Classico, have come to be considered both fine wines to be savored and affordable wines that can be drunk every day. In Barolo to Valpolicella, Nicolas Belfrage explores the mysteries of Northern Italian viniculture, focusing on dozens of wines ranging from the normale to the highest-quality single-vineyard masterpieces. Using many local and international grape varieties as signposts, he guides the reader through such magical areas as Valpolicella, South Tyrol, and Trentino as well as the hills of Bologna and the Po Valley plain, where Lambrusco wines really did once hang from trees.“

CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Phil Tellier's Review (#)

„ I tied using his 100% Arabica coffee (same brand -- everything) in my Briel and like became boring...  Since then, I've tried espresso from different recommended restaurants and have concluded that the Saeco Classico was as close as you can get from commercial quality espresso in the confort of your own home.  I've organized an espresso tasting seminar by gathering friends who own espresso machines and have performed a head to head test amongst 5 different machines, using the same brewing conditions (I don't have the details on hand, but the Saeco and the Briel were two of them).  The Saeco got the best rating from almost everyone.“

Amazon.com: Kitchen & Housewares: Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico/Zinfandel Wine Glasses, Set of 6 (#)

„One of the more versatile stems among the 19 myriad shapes in Riedel's Vinum line, this glass, model 416/15 to loyalists, hits almost all the food groups. It's called the Chianti Classico glass, referring to the Italian region producing red wines from the Sangiovese grape, but the glass is designed to enhance the nuance and flavor of wines made of Dolcetto or Montepulciano, too. And Zinfandel drinkers--we're talking red Zin here--will find that this glass focuses lots of bright fruit to the nose, rounding off some of the rougher edges of a young red. A 1997 Napa Valley Zinfandel, tasted in both Riedel and "Brand X," bears this out.“

Amazon.com: Kitchen & Housewares: Riedel Sommeliers Mini Chianti Classico/ Riesling, Single Stem (#)

„Handmade of mouth-blown full-lead crystal, this wine glass is from Riedel’s top-of-the-line Sommeliers collection and is for those who take their wine seriously. This is a diminutive version of Riedel’s original Chianti Classico/Riesling glass. The glass is specifically shaped to bring out the fruit and supple texture in wines made from the Sangiovese grapes--Chianti, Dolcetto, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, and Zinfandel--while highlighting the acidity and tannins as the final taste. The glass shape also affects the bouquet, bringing out the scent of cherry and bitter almond that Chianti-region wines are known for.“

„As Italians are increasingly looking to new wines or "old wines with a new face", the Marchese Antinori cellars have, in recent years, introduced Tignanello. This wine is still produced in the Chianti Classico region but combines the traditional Sangiovese grape with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. Its success has prompted experiments with other vines including Merlot and Pinot Noir as well as international whites such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Piedmont, meaning "foot of the mountain", is noted for its powerful red wines and leads the premium field with 37 D.O.C.“

Tiny Joy, a home coffee roasting newsletter from Sweet Maria's Coffee (#)

„The bottom line is that the Chianti Classico 2000 project is looking to the future. To compete they must improve the quality of their product ; they must integrate the most up-to-date information available throughout its zone; and it must produce more typified and distinct products than ever before which nobody else can duplicate. This kind of research can easily be translated into the coffee industry in the most famous and quality oriented regions, and it is a necessity if the industry is going to meet the demands of the future.“

The Coffee Review - the world's leading coffee buying guide (#)

„Although I generally dislike mustiness in coffees because it tends to dampen competing aromatics and dominates the cup, I enjoyed and admired both of these blends. The mustiness was backgrounded in the Coffee Bean Trading Espresso Classico. In Espresso Vivace's Espresso Vita the musty sharpness was more prominent, and I found that I needed to pace the shot rather quickly to allow the mustiness its natural turn toward cocoa and spice.“

CoffeeGeek - Saeco Classico - Dave LaFollette's Review (#)

„It comes with a pressurized portafilter, but for an extra $35.00 you can get a non-pressurized portafilter from Saeco and your machine becomes a poor man's Sylvia. One thing that you will find is that the Classico is exceptionally quick to heat up. This minimizes the fact that you can't leave this machine on a timer due to the lack of a boiler auto refill. Temperature surfing is not needed due to the rapid heat up.“

„The Classico doesn't require and expensive grinder to make good espresso, but it needs a grinder that makes a uniform grind. Blade grinders are out. The pressurized portafilter does not require an espresso grind, in fact that is the perfect way to cause a problem.“
