BSCA - Brazil Specialty Coffee Association (#)
„The strategy is to be the main sponsor of the annual Baristas' championship, not only in the world finals but also in the regional semi-finals and in the major local contests. The sponsorship of the competition involves the exhibition of the Cafés do Brasil and Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association brands in events and in their promotional materials, as well as the use of Brazilian specialty coffees by those that attend the events. Ten local contests in different countries of the world, three regional semi-finals and one world final will be held each year in one given country, usually coinciding with a important world coffee event.“

„Brazil just completed its 4th National Championship when 24 baristas from all over the vast coffee country met in Sao Paulo. It may be commonly known that Brazil both is the largest coffee producer and also has been producing some excellent coffees. What is less known is that Brazil is the second largest coffee consumer, that the coffee bar culture is blooming and that the quality of its baristi is doing the same.“

„All this work resulted in the coordination and execution of the Brazilian Gourmet Coffee Project of the International Coffee Organization. This project is being implemented by international consultants in quality and marketing, and it is financed by the Common Fund for Commodities and managed by the International Trade Center, an entity of the World Trade Organization. The main objective of this project is the sustainable development of quality, thus obtaining substantially higher prices for a proportion of the Brazilian production.“

„By registering for the auction the coffee trade gets to pick and purchase great coffees without any searching and with the knowledge that the winners were chosen through a rigorous blind cupping process. Owning these coffees is of critical importance to the specialty coffee roaster whose customers demand quality and uniqueness. Historically many of these same quality coffees have been impossible to find, either vanishing into a blend or disappearing through a co-op or an exporter to favored clients.“
