„The Cup of Excellence is a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. These winning coffees are chosen by a select group of national and international cuppers and are cupped at least five different times during the competition process. Only coffees that receive a score of 80 or above are allowed to move forward in the competition. The final winners are awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence® and sold to the highest bidder during an internet auction.“

„Pulped Natural Dominates: All 18 coffees (see winners table) selected by the jury this year were processed using the pulped natural method (often misleadingly called "semi-washed"). The pulped natural method allowed farmers to overcome particularly severe problems of weather and uneven ripening this year. It simply was not a good year for natural processed coffees in Brazil!“
