„My only reservations about the culinary contents of the book are in the recipes for brodo (stock) and in the absence of a recipe for the salt-free Tuscan bread. The brodo recipe calls for boiling the stock for three hours, which violates absolutely every single stock recipe I have ever read, in that stock ingredients are to be just brought to the edge of a boil, then simmered. Also, the rationale for the saltless Tuscan bread is given in great detail, but there is no recipe for same, and, I suspect you may have a very hard time finding true saltless bread in an American suburb. My local megamart carries a Tuscan loaf, but I will bet more than a few lire (or euros) on the fact that salt was used in the recipe.“http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/isbn=0865473870/ - Cached

„La SagrestiaThe bresaola (salted beef served in olive oil) with rocket and parmesan and/or the prosciutto con melone (cured ham and melon) gets you off to an excellent start, washed down with a litre jug of the chilled house red. The tortellini in brodo (stuffed pasta in a broth) is a miracle of simplicity, while the saltimbocca just melts in the mouth - the veal is tender, the sage is fragrant and the prosciutto (cured ham) imparts just enough saltiness. This place is a bit touristy in presentation - everywhere is when you get this close to Piazza Navonna - but the food is very good.“http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/place-london/a471269 - Cached

„They stand out in most people's minds only as the orange, green, or grayish patches that festoon rocks and trees in mountain regions. But they are far more widespread than that, writes research scientist Irwin Brodo. Nearly every bioregion has a complement, and the continent as a whole boasts nearly 3,600 species (of about 14,000 worldwide). The first part of this book offers a near-encyclopedic survey of these lichens' form, structure, reproductive patterns, physiology, and ecological role.“http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/ 0300082495?v=glance - Cached
„The commercial Christmas is a fairly new phenomenon here; until recently children got their presents at Epiphany, January 6th. The main celebration is Christmas Eve dinner, where the traditional fare might be bruschette, tortellini in brodo (small stuffed pasta in chicken broth), a guinea fowl, and golden sponge cake pannetone. Afterwards, midnight mass. Cordiali Saluti!“http://www.bbc.co.uk/southampton/features/global/ postcard_tim.shtml - Cached

„There is often crostini with liver pâté or the classic tortellini in chicken stock, brodo. There is also lo zampone and il cotechino, to be eaten with mash potato and lentils. Lo zampone is a pig's foot filled with spiced mince meat, while il cotechino is a sausage made from pig's intestines containing a similar filling.“http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/christmas/ - Cached
