[fast grow the weeds] On being an incrementalist « fast grow the weeds: If I had to shell all 25 pounds of the dried bean harvest at one time I would be more than a little crazy. Thankfully, this task can be put off, done only when you need the beans. I have about 15 paper grocery sacks filled with dried, unhusked beans that I simply harvested, tied up to dry in the shed, and bagged when I had the time this winter. On Sunday, I looked at the contents of our pantry and said “cassoulet might be nice this week,” so out came a bag of beans and fortunately the child is almost always wearing the boots.
[Do not eat the jelly beans!] Busy busy weekend”¦: All of this is low-carb and I hope to put some in the freezer and into tupperware for the rest of the week. I have to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week and I want stuff available to just pack and run!

[Tiger Lily Pregnancy] Traditional Food Challenge - Day 22 Update: We did have a point this weekend where I had to give in and allow the use of corn tortillas from the store. [Moms Need To Know] Day of Baking, Part 2: While the rice was cooking, I got to work on the sugar cookies. Although I could have made them from scratch, the truth is that I was just making them from a cookie mix (2 bags). I do enjoy cooking from scratch, but I got a great deal on cookie mix at $.16 per bag (actually less, since it was part of a moneymaking Catalina deal) and I can’t put the “from scratch” ingredients in a bowl for less than $.16 per batch.
