The bean scene: healthy refried beans
[Eating Out Loud: Food, Cooking, Recipes & Trends] Hi Alan- I never really use a recipe for refried beans but usually just cook some onions and garlic in a little olive oil and then add the spices that you mentioned according to wim and give the whole thing a quick mashing... I do like to use black beans sometimes though.

French Beans,Anyone?
[Virtual Health Guide] Methods: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.Blanch the string beans in a large pot of boiling salted water for just four minutes.Drain immediately and immerse in a large bowl of ice water to stop the cooking.When they are cool, drain and set aside.Meanwhile, in a large bowl toss the onion and bell peppers together with two tablespoons of olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for about 15 minutes, tossing with a spatula from time to time to be sure the vegetables roast evenly.Just before serving, reheat the string beans in a large saute pan drizzled with a little olive oil.Sprinkle with salt and pepper and arrange on a platter.Spoon the roasted vegetables over the string beans and serve hot or at room temperature.

[Slashfood] Several times a month I make a pot of beans overnight, put half back in the pot with meat and veggies for chile or beans and rice or something similar to cook during the day, then put the rest in the fridge to use later in the week in a lighter dish. The crockpot method takes a lot of the nuisance waiting time out of the process!

[Lovely Plantings] TIP: I plant the seeds no later than January, and in 5-gallon pots. I water them three times a week, and feed them with MiracleGro Liquafeed once a month. The Liquafeed bottle is attached to a plastic feeder/nozzle device (”Advance Feeder”), and then attached to my water hose.

[One Mans trip to the Half] most times when I list my meals from the previous day I will say "3oz chicken breast, 3/4 cup white rice, 1/2 cup black beans, broccoli" now that just seems plain to me but its how it gets put into the Excel sheet that I keep because its just to count the calories not really which recipe I ate that particular day. from time to time I will list it how it was eaten and sometimes I get an email or comment asking how to make something, welp here is the BBQ rice and beans with shredded chicken that I have been making lately.

[Tasty Fever!] Bordeaux had intrigued me when I passed by the little strip mall the restaurant was nestled in, or rather, going to be nestled in. At the time I had noticed it, the cafe was still in the process of “coming soon!”, so I was sort of waiting until I had seen it was open for business. Sometimes, the time it takes for a restaurant to open can be lengthy, but it didn’t seem so with Bikes, Beans & Bordeaux. I believe it was sometime earlier this week or last week that I had seen its little “Open”

[Miles Collins] That was annoying, I love borlottis, the colour of the pods look wonderful in the summer sun and the speckled beans inside are creamy and delicious fresh or dried. We knew that we would try to find out the baby’s gender if we could, and I thought it would be interesting to assess which methods proved accurate and which did not.

Meth Coffee - My Salvation

The 4Ms of Espresso
[http://www.brewed-coffee.com] The first factor is Macinazione or the proper grinding of the beans. Great baristas in fact will only grind beans for an espresso right before using them. 30 seconds after they have been ground, the beans are already too stale for a good espresso.

[Jiggle The Handle] They are just down the road in Westborough Mass, but I do mail order with them and they make some great coffee beans. I used to order beans from Coffee Revolution in Ottawa Ontario, but I started to have some problems with the order, so we tried a bunch of other mail order and local places and settled on Armeno..

Coffee News: Risk to coffee stocks after hurricane supports price rises

We watch the roast checking it with a small scoop we insert into the roasting chamber about every 15 seconds when the roast is nearing the profile we desire.

Three Single Origins and a Blend
[larryhalff.com] Last month I made a brief visit to Seattle for work, and somehow found the time to visit some coffee roasters: Victrola, Lighthouse, and Vivace. Coincidently, Cory had been there the week prior and had brought us back a big haul of beans which included a couple of roasts from Cafe d'Arte. With all these beans, a tasting session was in order.
