Roasting with a Heat Gun: A Top-Down Approach (INeedCoffee.com)
„There are other methods suited to larger batches. I tried a stove top popper which worked well but the popper I got wasn't very durable. I decided to try the heat gun figuring if it didn't work, a heat gun would still be useful to have. It turns out the heat gun is a viable way to roast up to a pound or so of green beans.“

„Roasting is a precise skill, however: insufficient roasting fails to fully extract the oils, but excess roasting can see them burnt away entirely. Elisabeth Dakin, who married a London-based tea and coffee merchant in 1841, thought that the iron used in traditional roasters 'imparted noxious qualities' on the delicate flavours of the coffee, and developed a coffee roaster made of gold, silver or platinum.“
