„I ask for good reason. I'm sitting writing this column on my new, highly accessible, pocket PC, in a coffee bar on the ground floor of a well-known hospital in London. I'm here for a regular blood test. Annoyingly it has gone rather badly and they've had to give me a different kind of test, the results of which are not due for a couple of hours.“

„In fact, I'd end up going to another coffee stand in a far off part of the building if I wanted something different. So you'll appreciate now why I needed to quickly break the worrying Diet Coke cycle with the new shopkeeper. Nip it in the bud, if you like. I'm careful now to vary what I buy anywhere and everywhere to stop such situations occurring .“

„The espresso bar at the NFT serves a fine capuccino, and there was plenty of opportunity to discuss what you had seen with fellow disabled artists and performers over a coffee. Films that were worth seeing included Burt, a moving look at the life and times of a man with a learning disability through international events and his own personal journey from institutionalisation to independence. Magic Box was a short film about the Faith Centre at the Holton Lee Arts Centre, and examined the role that contemplation plays in pain relief.“

„It is trying to raise £3.25m ($5m) by offering shares to the public in London but, as the company itself says, this is no ordinary issue of shares. Traidcraft intends to provide investors with financial returns. But it says the principal return for shareholders will be the knowledge that they are helping poor producers and their communities to fight poverty. Paying a dividend "We want people to invest, not because they think they're going to make a lot of money out of us but because of what we can do for the sake of poor people," says Traidcraft's chief executive Paul Chandler.“

„But producer countries, led by the Ivory Coast, are pressing for manufacturers to pay more, saying that is the only way to prevent child slavery. In May, ministers from the Ivory Coast went to London to tell the UK government that without higher prices nothing could prevent poverty-stricken cocoa farmers from using forced labour.
