BBC - h2g2 - Ways to Make Good Coffee (#)
„They should always be used to make a full pot as they do not operate well when half full. After making a pot, you must wait a few minutes for the pot to cool down before you can use it again, so they are not really suitable for making large amounts of espresso.“

„I must admit I was a bit bemused by the waiters carrying around large teapot-like jugs, full of hot milk. The reason being for this slightly bizarre custom is that when you order a milky coffee, one waiter brings you the cup with a bit of coffee in the bottom and another arrives soon after with the hot milk, pouring it with great precision from quite a height into the cup. When you have finished and want more, all you have to do is knock a spoon against your cup and the waiter arrives with the milk.“

„But my brother, a heavy smoker, has just died from a heart attack at 43 and I am now determined that I must stop. I have never tried using nicotine patches or any of the other types of nicotine replacement but might - do you recommend them, how effective are they and can I get them on the NHS?“

„And that's why the American habit of bringing a teacup, a tea bag and a pot of hot water to the table is merely the perfect way of making a thin, pale, watery cup of tea that nobody in their right mind would want to drink. The Americans are all mystified about why the English make such a big thing out of tea because most Americans have never had a good cup of tea. That's why they don't understand. In fact the truth of the matter is that most English people don't know how to make tea any more either, and most people drink cheap instant coffee instead, which is a pity, and gives Americans the impression that the English are just generally clueless about hot stimulants.“

„Its weight was marked as 1.45 oz. I shook my head….how could someone get a robust pot of coffee from that weight? Then it struck me: the retailer must realize this is a one-time sale and is offering as little coffee as possible for $4.00/pack. That’s $4.00 for less than 2 ounces of coffee!“
