„Pour the water into the base of the stove-top espresso maker. Then pack the freshly ground coffee into the filter using the back of a spoon. The amount you use really depends on the strength of the coffee beans.“

„The brewed coffee is collected in the top half of the pot. When all the water is gone from the lower half, the gurgling dies away and the coffee is ready. The espresso coffee made in these stove-top pots can be bitter, because the water is boiling when it passes through the grounds.Stove-top espresso makers are available in a few different sizes. They should always be used to make a full pot as they do not operate well when half full. After making a pot, you must wait a few minutes for the pot to cool down before you can use it again, so they are not really suitable for making large amounts of espresso.“

„At Coffee Review we review espresso both as straight shot and in a volume of two parts milk to one freshly pulled shot of espresso. Willem and I tasted the espressos reviewed here together on the same day, prepared on Willem's La Marzocco machine. Because the act of brewing is so crucial to refined evaluation of espresso coffees, following a precise, replicable brewing and preparation protocol is essential to any credible review.“

„Red Eye Someone who can "drink" (ie:choke down) a red eye deserves your respect. This drink is basically a cup of coffee (already pretty darn caffeinated) with either one, two, or three espresso shots added for good measure. People that drink these either are clinically dead and need resurrection, or are writing a doctoral thesis or something. You may want to think twice before ordering this drink.“

„Why go for a pod machine when you can get freshly roasted (and ground) coffee from a roaster a block or two away from where you live? In my opinion the pod system is for folks who want to make espresso without understanding or really getting involved in the process....really I do not think that applies to anyone who posts on coffeeforums.com (meaning....posters here have real passion for the culture of coffee...) Anyway that is my opinion....“

„If you do own an Espresso machine, that's a bonus. If you do not have one but would prefer to drink Espresso coffee, and your budget cannot accommodate an expensive machine, a stove-top Espresso maker can be purchased for around $2- - $30 at most Italian or kitchen specialty stores. More information is available in the chapter "Coffee Machines and Methods". In the chapter "Cream of the Cup", we'll get into various tips and methods of steaming and frothing milk for fancy coffees and cappuccino cocktails recipes.“
