„I think I get it. Quite confusing, especially since in "Allo allo" (the TV series) they use the word cafe the same way as we do (but they're supposed to be French of course, not English )So in the UK a cafe is not a pub, but rather some kind of snack bar or coffee house (I won't use the word cofee shop here, because that indeed has quite a diffrent meaning in the Netherlands ) ?And hi fari. I'm looking forward to see what story it's going to be “

„by Alain Stella (Author) Associated PressSure to perk up the coffee connoisseur is "The Book of Coffee." Language NotesText: English (translation)Original Language: French About the AuthorAlain Stella is a writer who divides his time between France and Egypt where coffee is an institution which has become a way of life. His mother, who is originally from Turkey, introduced him to the birthplace of coffee, the East, and in particular to that special concoction known as Turkish coffee. Fascinated by the way that such everday pleasures have shaped whole civilizations, Alain Stella is a contributor to the companion volume, The Book of Tea, also published by Flammarion.Book DescriptionHow many of us appreciate the extent to which coffee, first popularized during the fifteenth century, has changed the world?Coffee has circled the globe and is now consumed by billions of people who value it for the extraordinary benefits it bestows: its delicious flavors and frangrances, of course; plus its virtues as a physical and mental stimulant; and, above all, its admirable ability to inspire conviviality. From Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, coffee warms the soul and brings people together.Discovered in a remote corner of Abyssinia, coffee has its roots in a land where genies appear from magic lamps, and where seers use it to foretell the future.“

„Whether this is true or not, the medicinal value of tea is undisputed. The traditional english brew is only one of the many drinks from around the world prepared by pouring hot water on leaves in one form or another. The world of hot water and leaf beverages falls into two main categories, "Teas" and "Tisanes". Each tea drinking nation has its own way of drinking Tea and all that they have in common is the same type of leaf. The Tibetans drink it with yak butter, the Turks have it strong black and sweet in glasses.“
