„The coffee maker needs a lot of ground coffee to make a good cup - about 1/3 more than the Proctor Silex thermal carafe I replaced. To get a strong cup of coffee, I'll make 6 cups in the Krups with the same amount of coffee that would yield 8 cups in the Proctor. The Proctor has a flat bottom drip basket as opposed to the Krups' conical basket. Also, the water flows faster through the Krups so the grounds aren't immersed as long.“

„As it is, it lacks details but does give good basic information. You can start here but "Become a coffee house owner" is far more detailed, with business plans, budgets, specific list of items needed (down to the grease trap), contacts, employees, probably health requirements etc. I did gain some knowledge from this book, but it won't be a point of referral in the future.“

Although this is a scholarly book, not a how-to manual, Clark does discuss strategies for extending the average human life by caloric restriction (reductions of 20% to 25% seem to be required) and the use of antioxidants (natural forms found in fruits and vegetables appear to be much more effective than supplements). He also does a nice job of exploring the causes of Alzheimer's disease, various forms of cancer and an array of genetic disorders that afflict the young by making them age prematurely. Finally, in this neatly informative work, Clark uses a sociological and political perspective to probe the tensions likely to arise between length of life and quality of life as medical advances continue to accumulate, and to consider the broad ramifications inherent in an aging population.“

„One is that it talks about the #import preprocessor directive, but nowhere does it mention the advantages of using #ifndef guards. Another problem is that in some parts it is Cocoa-specific; I would have preferred that it concentrate on the OpenStep standard in general so that other OpenStep implementations might not be left out (but the book does occasionally mention GNUstep, which is great).“
