Amazon.com: Kitchen & Housewares: Hamilton Beach 727W Classic DrinkMaster Drink Mixer, White ()

„Drop a dime into the jukebox, press F2 for Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill," and dreamily drift back to the '50s, when bobbysoxers and guys with ducktails or wearing white bucks (never, ever both) idled away after-school hours at the local drugstore's soda fountain sipping chocolate malts that had been churned to a smooth, frothy consistency by a mixer exactly like this one. Hamilton Beach's drink mixers began appearing at soda fountains in 1911; this 14-1/2-inch-high, 70-watt model, in white, recalls Elvis's first decade. But it's 21st-century, too, blending fruit smoothies and health drinks as well as milk shakes and malted milks. Also use it to mix puddings and beat eggs for omelets.“

Amazon.com: Books: Train Song Amazon.com: Books: Train Song

„PreSchool-Grade 2-Simple rhymed couplets accompany pictures of a little boy playing on a hill with his toy train while watching a real train (with a conductor that looks just like him) wind through the hills and valleys before him. "Chug-a-chug-chug and clickety-clack-/Steam is white and the engine's black." The train goes across bridges, through tunnels, past a station, and disappears into the distance, but the boy knows that, "Tomorrow when it's almost ten,/Freight train will be back again." Saaf's gouache illustrations are childlike and straightforward; the colorful double-page spreads are bordered in a wide band of white with text printed in bold black at the bottom. The book should not be confused with Diane Siebert's book of the same title (Crowell, 1990), which is more sophisticated in text and aimed at a slightly older audience. Ziefert's title will be received eagerly by young train enthusiasts.“

Amazon.com: Music: Summer Solstice 2: A Windham Hill Collection

„With a blend of New Age sensibility and performances from world-class international artists, Windham Hill's second Solstice collection is perfectly suited to the time of year for which it's named. There's substantial variety on this disc, from the ethereal guitar and flute of Angels of Venice's "After the Harvest", to the choral piece "Silgugu Isiphambano" from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, to the up-tempo, jazzy "Tres Curmins" from Lani Hall, to the upbeat "Alegre Vida" from Yomo Toro. There's a fine contribution from Buckwheat Zydeco that evokes a carnival atmosphere, and "Lei 'Awapuhi" from Ledward Kaapana, who infuses the piece with bluesy touches of slide guitar and bent notes. This is music to open your windows and air out your house to.“

Amazon.com: Books: Economics Amazon.com: Books: Economics

„While other reviewers have justly criticized Samuelson for being model-bound (as most economists are) and dragging the Phillips Curve out of its grave, this remains a fine introduction to basic economic concepts, including the notion that some kinds of wealth are subjective and not quantifiable. Most of the reviewers a-froth over Samuelson name other fine econ primers -- Hazlitt's, Friedman's, etc. -- but the reader should note that their bias is to call democratic socialism imprisonment, and taxes theft. Frankly, I'd recommend reading both sides, and then reading essayists like Galbraith and his conservative counterparts for some descriptive reality, which is in short supply in most econ textbooks.“
