This was during a time when 64% of all household coffee was made using a percolator.(Uncommon Grounds , Mark Pendergrast page 272) Mark Pendergrast in the book Uncommon Grounds writes about the popularity of the Chemex saying, It never challenged the percolator, except amoung highbrows and purists. Today the Chemex brewer and it's accessories are manufactered by International Housewares of Pittsfield, MA.“
