Amazon.com: Books: Shooting the Boh : A Woman's Voyage Down the Wildest River in Borneo (Vintage Departures) (#)
„This story of a journalist joining an expedition down the Boh River starts out as standard adventure travel fare, but the difference rapidly becomes apparent: this journalist is over 40, her luggage is lost on the flight over and cannot be recovered in time, and the expedition has been planned by a company that takes irresponsibility to a new level. Only when they are already on the river do the participants realize how difficult and dangerous their time together will be. All of them must deal with "insect stress" caused by bees that feast on human sweat, foot fungus, raging rapids, and perhaps an evil river spirit.“

„In the former category, there is Ed McBain with "Activity on the Flood Plain" which, on the surface, doesn't appear to belong in this collection at all. What begins as a story of a beleaguered artist dealing with a nattering nabob on a planning and zoning board takes a left turn near the conclusion. And, yeah, it definitely belongs in this volume. Jeffrey Deaver is included as well, with "Beautiful." This marks the first time I have ever been able to guess the conclusion of a Deaver work and it did not diminish my enjoyment of the story, which concerns a woman who finds an effective, if drastic way, of dealing with a stalker.“

„Shady Glade is the peak of Peet's storytelling and artistry. It's a great story about a group of forest creatures who's home is about to be destroyed by the progress of man. They leave their home, ironically, on the very instrument that brought man so quickly across the continent, a train, in search of a new shady glade.“

„Still, when it comes to changing the tastes of the public, Doug Zell, the co-founder of Intelligentsia, concluded, "You must continue to improve quality and tell the story of coffee. Education. You just can't buy the cause."“

„Tea and coffee. We hear the words together so often they seem a natural pair. But as you learn more about tea you see that both the beverage and the crop have their own, unique story, distinct from coffee.“
