Amazon.com: Books: Secrets from a Healthy Asian Kitchen (#)
„Compestine (Cooking with Green Tea) delivers another health-oriented book specializing in Asian cuisine and culture. Heavily emphasizing the Chinese belief in balance, Compestine applies the concept to food, which she divides into cool (yin) and hot (yang) foods with neutral foods in between. After starting with an Asian food pyramid to show the balance of a healthy diet, she offers the "Six Key Ingredients to a Healthy Asian Kitchen," which include the staples of ginger, soy and ginseng.“

„(they were actually divided as part of a divorce!) The new Farberware is not made in the USA, but in the orient, I've used this new pan several times, and have had no problems with sticking or heat distribution. Still trying to get used to this new style handle. It seems a bit more difficult to hold this almost round stainless tubular handle, but I probably learn it.“

„Antol sets out not just to tell the story of Starbucks, but to talk about the role of coffee throughout its relatively brief history in the world. Confessions of a Coffee Bean covers vast ground as Antol moves from the bean's origins to its spread throughout Europe. She addresses the physiological and cultural effects the bean has exerted over all segments of humanity. Recipes to supplement the text include both coffee-flavored items and assorted accompaniments to a cup of coffee.“

„Focusing on the Italian-American kitchen—the cooking she encountered when she first came to America as a young adolescent—she pays homage to this “cuisine of adaptation born of necessity.” But she transforms it subtly with her light, discriminating touch, using the authentic ingredients, not accessible to the early immigrants, which are all so readily available today. The aromatic flavors of fine Italian olive oil, imported Parmigiano-Reggiano and Gorgonzola dolce latte, fresh basil, oregano, and rosemary, sun-sweetened San Marzano tomatoes, prosciutto, and pancetta permeate the dishes she makes in her Italian-American kitchen today. And they will transform for you this time-honored cuisine, as you cook with Lidia, learning from her the many secret, sensuous touches that make her food superlative.“

„But then we have Weird Al Yankovic's "Christmas at Ground Zero." Now, I love Weird Al and I know all the words to this song, but it is just out of place in this collection (and I have expressed similar concerns on other Christmas collections when a novelty song is thrown into the mix). Then we are back on track with Foghart and some old chestnuts that have been roasting on the fire for a long time with offerings from the Kinks, the Beach Boys, and Canned Heat. Then we have Cheech & Chong's "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" routine. At least coming at the end of the album it is not as much of a distraction, but I find it impossible to believe Billboard could not have come up with a couple of other choice rock 'n' roll Christmas songs without the comedy.“
