„The quilts have been divided into sections called Traditional and Beyond, Illusion: Two Dimensions into Three, Pictorial and Story, Contemporary Abstract, and Textured and Embellished. I admired quilts in every section, but my particular favorites are Open Gate (a reverse applique of black fabric gate over a watercolor garden that is 5 X 7 feet), Glass Carafes (I've always loved watercolor paintings of glass items, but it never occurred to me to attempt something so delicate and luminous in fabric), The Greek Quilt (the earth-toned applique reminded me of the painting on a tribal piece of pottery), and Quilt for a Hot Night (five brightly colored strips of piece work connected by narrow cloth strips reminescent of bead weaving and Africa).“

„In the former category, there is Ed McBain with "Activity on the Flood Plain" which, on the surface, doesn't appear to belong in this collection at all. What begins as a story of a beleaguered artist dealing with a nattering nabob on a planning and zoning board takes a left turn near the conclusion. And, yeah, it definitely belongs in this volume. Jeffrey Deaver is included as well, with "Beautiful." This marks the first time I have ever been able to guess the conclusion of a Deaver work and it did not diminish my enjoyment of the story, which concerns a woman who finds an effective, if drastic way, of dealing with a stalker.“

As Klatch observes, however, "the untold story of the 1960s is about the New Right," a story that is now slowly seeping out in the works of John Andrew "The Other Side of the Sixties" and Mary Brennan "Turning Right in the Sixties." Although a true comparison of SDS and YAF activists, Klatch's most valuable contribution is that her work adds depth to an understanding of those individuals who were the "cadres for conservatism" in the sixties. But the limited size of her sample and the resultant scope of her work only provides a clue to the varied backgrounds and future developments of literally thousands of YAF alumni.“
