Amazon.com: Books: Nancy Silverton's Sandwich Book : The Best Sandwiches Ever--from Thursday Nights at Campanile (#)
„While Silverton offers new takes on such standards as the grilled cheese sandwich, she does satisfy those craving a less traditional and more innovative experience. Her open-faced sandwich combinations include Asparagus, Poached Egg, Prosciutto and Fontina Cheese; Bacon, Avocado and Watercress; and Piled-High Pork. Served closed face are the Monte Cristo; Fried Oyster Sandwich; and Ham, Creamed Spinach, and Stewed Leeks. Sandwich sweets (such as the Carrot Cake Club Sandwich or Blum's Sandwich Cake) and an assortment of tea sandwiches and finger foods round out the menu.“

„In the former category, there is Ed McBain with "Activity on the Flood Plain" which, on the surface, doesn't appear to belong in this collection at all. What begins as a story of a beleaguered artist dealing with a nattering nabob on a planning and zoning board takes a left turn near the conclusion. And, yeah, it definitely belongs in this volume. Jeffrey Deaver is included as well, with "Beautiful." This marks the first time I have ever been able to guess the conclusion of a Deaver work and it did not diminish my enjoyment of the story, which concerns a woman who finds an effective, if drastic way, of dealing with a stalker.“

„As Pressman does so well in all of his books, the information is explained clearly - for all readerships. Antioxidants in general and Glutathione in particular are our bodies' buffers to the deteriorating effects of "life". Taken as blends or individually, our bodies need them. iHerb is a site where I have found Glutathione as well as other antioxidants.“

„Along the way, he summarizes the latest scientific information while outlining prospects for future research. Although this is a scholarly book, not a how-to manual, Clark does discuss strategies for extending the average human life by caloric restriction (reductions of 20% to 25% seem to be required) and the use of antioxidants (natural forms found in fruits and vegetables appear to be much more effective than supplements). He also does a nice job of exploring the causes of Alzheimer's disease, various forms of cancer and an array of genetic disorders that afflict the young by making them age prematurely. Finally, in this neatly informative work, Clark uses a sociological and political perspective to probe the tensions likely to arise between length of life and quality of life as medical advances continue to accumulate, and to consider the broad ramifications inherent in an aging population.“

„It leaked like a sieve when pouring so I decided to use it as a "back up" and get a new one. I then purchased the DCM2000 series. Quite disappointed to find the same problem. Not only does it also make a mess when pouring but because we weren't diligent wiping off the bottom after every use, the finish is coming off the hot plate.“

„Simply put, human behavior does not submit to the calculus of mechanical reasoning. If one accepts Peet's arguments (which are difficult to undermine), then it becomes clear that our most urgent research need is in establishing and articulating a new paradigm of scientific reasoning that offers hope for addressing the environmental problems of the present (and presumably the next two hundred years, give or take). Peet suggests that an "ecological view" is the proper basis for a new science called Ecological Economics.“
