Amazon.com: Books: Dr. Rosenfeld's Guide to Alternative Medicine : What Works, What Doesn't And What's Right for You ()

„Rosenfeld's "humor" laced throughout the book. While bad puns like the chapter title "High Colonics and Coffee Enemas: Public Enema Number One" could possibly be ignored, episodes like the section on Ayurvedic medicine in which the author makes fun of the "tongue-twisting" Hindi words for the various doshas by comparing them to "something from a Danny Kaye movie" cannot. I found that while Dr. Rosenfeld was obviously trying to include in his information on each therapy anything that could possibly be construed as dangerous for a patient seeking help, he ended up including very outdated information that I doubt is seriously practiced any longer (like smearing individuals with goat dung to treat alcoholism Ayurvedically which the author admits probably isn't done at all currently but he still makes a point of mentioning it).“

„Null is armed with lawyers and is fond of brandishing them. He endorses the use of magnets and laetrile for curing cancer, he opposes vaccination, recommends coffee enemas, and declares that "misaligned" bony plates of the skull cause a raft of medical problems - all notions that have been shown quite erroneous. The "Consumer's Guide to 'Alternative Medicine'" comments, "Gary Null is wrong so often that the average person who listens to him might be better off believing the opposite of what he says." He obtained his Ph.D. from Union Graduate School, a "non-traditional" organization in New Jersey which allows the student to decide his own title of the degree he earns as well as the content of the program he follows, which is largely self-administered.“

„Her garden aesthetic - odd, overgrown, intense and personal, wild, even, endears her to me. I remember reading a bit of memoir in the New Yorker that involved her experiments with coffee enemas. This struck me as the strangest thing I had ever read (because perhaps I was still a teenager in Kansas and ready to be struck by things). Enemas?“

„The treatment that he credits with saving his life he found in A Cancer Therapy, by Max Gerson, a doctor who died in 1958. Based on the daily drinking of freshly made juices and taking several coffee enemas a day, the Gerson Diet also includes a variety of supplements. Despite the time-consuming nature of this restrictive regime, eight years later Gearin-Tosh is alive and pursuing an active professional life. He is careful to point out that while this program is working for him, "each person should explore his own way with their physician." Gearin-Tosh's detailed, engaging memoir of a search for his own cure will inspire readers to take the time to consider their own treatments.“
