Amazon.com: Books: Coffee : A Guide to Buying, Brewing, and Enjoying, Fifth Edition (#)
„Through his three books and informative website (...), Ken Davids is a leading expert on coffees of the world. He is also the green bean guru to home coffee roasters everywhere and it is primarily for them this book was designed. For anyone exploring the many pleasures of roasting their own beans, Davids is the only comprehensive guide available, which makes it particularly maddening that the book hasn't been updated in five years. When Davids wrote the book in 1996, home coffee roasting was beginning its rebirth.“

„Today, the sorts of inexpensive, easy-to-use home roasters he long for in the book are finally available but not covered. A quick update could correct information on roaster availability (it's easier than you think, and easier than he says), and sources for unroasted beans (some of his are out of date, and some good ones aren't noted at all). Still, if you want to get started with home roasting, this remains the best book to own. And if you just love coffee, it's a fine second or third book to put on the shelf.“

„ This is one of the most demanding tasks but can also lead to great excitement when an exceptional and unusual offering is discovered. Very few small coffee roasters purchase beans directly from producers and when they do it is usually the result of personal relationships developed over a period of time. Often the road from producer to roaster is a long one involving many middlemen and thousands of miles of transport. Most coffee beans are bought from brokers or merchants who specialise in coffee.“

„We cannot sell West Bend Poppery II corn poppers anymore due to legal wrangling :-(, but I heard a birdie say they are popular as coffee roasters, as you may read about in Ken David's book Home Coffee Roasting , or on many web pages, and discussions on our Home Coffee Roasting email list . Instructions are simple too! PS: Scour the thrift stores for a West Bend original Popper I (it is labeled The Poppery) .“

„The popularity of espresso, coffee at its purest and most intense, has grown exponentially in the past decade. In this revised edition of his book on the ultimate coffee, Kenneth Davids provides a lucid, engaging examination of espresso's lore, legend, and culture. A finalist for the James Beard Award upon its original publication. Espresso is the perfect introduction to the world of specialty coffee.“
